The Winlaton Wannabes Women's Drama Group is part of a healthy living group at Winlaton Community Base.

Through drama the wannabes are trying to encourage women to be more aware of their health. The group has worked with a drama tutor and community nurses to put on a production called Breast Friends. Breast Friends shows women how important it is to examine their breasts to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

The wannabes have performed Breast Friends to health professionals throughout the North East from Hexham down to York. A team of district nurses from Nottingham even came up to Winlaton to see them perform.

Last year their hard work was recognised, as they were runners up and highly commended in the national Community Care Awards.
